Recent Updates to Caribbean Citizenship Programs

Several recent developments have affected Caribbean Citizenship by Investment programs, particularly in Grenada and St. Kitts and Nevis, alongside changes to the regional regulatory framework.

In Grenada, the Investment Migration Agency, IMA Grenada, confirmed the postponement of the residency requirement that had been scheduled to take effect on 31 August 2026. According to the official circular, a new implementation date will be determined once the regional regulatory authority becomes operational and the participating states agree on a common commencement date. No new date has been announced so far.

At the regional level, the five Caribbean CBI jurisdictions are moving forward under the Eastern Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Regulatory Authority (ECCIRA). The authority will establish common standards and oversee the programs of Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Lucia. ECCIRA is expected to commence operations in Grenada in late 2026.

In St. Kitts and Nevis, biometric enrolment was integrated into the passport issuance process from 1 September 2026. Citizens who book and complete biometric enrolment by 31 December 2026 can also receive a 10% reduction in government biometric fees, with an approved enrolment location currently available in Iraq.
