The Republic of Nauru has officially adopted the name Republic of Naoero, following a constitutional amendment approved by Parliament in May 2026.
The country’s citizenship programme has also been renamed the Naoero Economic and Climate Resilience Citizenship Program, with the new name now reflected across official programme materials and communications.
For current and prospective applicants, the change is administrative and does not affect the programme’s legal framework, application requirements, or due diligence procedures.
New citizenship certificates are being issued under the name Republic of Naoero, while existing passports bearing the Nauru name remain valid during the transition.
