About the Spain Digital Nomad Visa Program

 

Spain Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) is designed for non-EU citizens who wish to reside in Spain while working remotely for companies or clients located outside Spain.
Through this program, eligible applicants may apply for permanent residency after 5 years.

Spain Digital Nomad Visa Requirements and Eligibility

 

The requirements for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa include:

  • The main applicant must be over 18 years of age.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of a country outside the European Union or European Economic Area.
  • The applicant must have a minimum monthly income of EUR 2,646.
  • The applicant must have a clean criminal record.
  • The applicant must hold a university degree or have at least 3 years of professional experience.

Financial Requirements for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa

 

The main applicant must demonstrate bank savings held outside Spain of at least EUR 60,000, in addition to a monthly income of approximately EUR 2,646, equivalent to 200% of Spain’s minimum wage.

When family members are included in the application, the additional income requirements are calculated as follows:

  • Spouse: an additional 75%, bringing the amount to approximately EUR 1,985 per month for the family.
  • Each additional dependent: an additional 25%, equivalent to approximately EUR 661.5 per month.

Demonstrating sufficient income is a key requirement for obtaining the visa and residence permit.

Can I Work in Spain Under This Program?

No. Applicants are permitted to work remotely only for entities located outside Spain.

How Can I Renew The Digital Nomad Visa?

The initial visa is valid for one year. During this period, the applicant enters Spain and applies for a residence permit. The residence card is then issued for 3 years and may be extended for an additional 2 years. A renewal application may be submitted within 60 days before the permit expires or within 90 days after its expiration. The main applicant must provide the same documents required for the initial application, in addition to proof of Social Security contribution payments.
