  The Republic of Maldives is located in South Asia, in the Indian Ocean. With an area of ​​300 km2, it is the smallest country in Asia. The official currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa, and the country has an open economy, with a gross domestic product of about $8.6 billion. The Maldives is characterized by a variety of destinations and attractions, cultural and natural, scattered throughout the country which is visited by more than 2 million tourists every year.
