The Canadian government has announced new regulations effective October 3 that will allow entrepreneurs in the Startup Visa (SUV) program to apply for an Open Work Permit instead of an Employer-Specific Work Permit. The difference between the two types is:
- Employer-Specific Work Permit: can work only for the Start-up
- Open Work Permit: can work for almost any employer (other than the start-up).
Applicants who submitted their applications before October 3 may apply for the new Open Work Permit if they wish, according to specific instructions.
