President Nikos Christodoulides commended the 21st anniversary of Cyprus’s accession to the European Union on May 1, 2004, in a written statement. He described this as the most important political and diplomatic achievement in the country’s history, emphasizing that membership strengthens Cyprus’s position in international forums.
The president also noted that the European Union is pivotal in supporting Cyprus in various fields, from digital transformation to strengthening foreign policy and the economy. Looking ahead, Christodoulides said that Cyprus is preparing to assume the presidency of the Council of the European Union during the first half of 2026, describing it as an opportunity to demonstrate Cyprus’s ability to contribute effectively and enhance integration with member states.
All of this is clear evidence of the stability and growth Cyprus is experiencing, which will enhance its attractiveness as an ideal destination for investment and residency, particularly through the Cyprus Permanent Residency Program, which offers investors the opportunity to permanently reside in a European country.
