The government of South Australia has set a limited quota for immigration applications for the year 2021. Details of the number of available spots will be officially announced in October.

Due to the major impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, immigration to Australia has become more complex. As a result, the South Australian government decided to introduce a quota and prioritize two main immigration streams:

  • Business Innovation Immigration
  • Investment Immigration

On its official website, the government announced that these programs, along with the General Skilled Migration Program, will be prioritized based on the following criteria, as directed by the Department of Home Affairs:

  1. High-quality applications within the Business Innovation and Investment Program, with priority given to those who had already submitted an ‘Intention to Apply’.

  2. Applicants critical to South Australia’s COVID-19 response, including:

    • Individuals providing specialist medical services.

    • Those with essential skills are required to maintain the supply of critical goods and services.

    • Those delivering services in sectors vital to Australia’s economic recovery.

  3. Onshore applicants who meet the above criteria will also receive early consideration.

Applications will open in late August. To learn more and apply before the quota fills up, contact us today.
