Dominica extends the deadline for renewing its passports to electronic, while St. Lucia announces start using them

Last year, the government of Dominica announced using the electronic passport that carries the biometric information of its holders to replace the paper edition, with the aim of achieving maximum security standards for Dominica passport holders, as this updated passport has high-tech features by containing all the vital data related to with its owner from fingerprints to the digital map of the face, iris and others. In this context, the relevant authorities in Dominica announced that the time given to the holders who wish to renew them for the updated electronic version has been extended from August 31, 2022 until December 31, 2022. At the same time, the Office of the Citizenship Unit in Saint Lucia announced the start of adopting electronic passports, thus joining the list of Caribbean countries that have electronic passports, which are Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
