The Citizenship by Investment program in Antigua and Barbuda is comprised of several stages and procedures which applicants must go through.
The first stage of the program is choosing and contacting the authorized representative who will be handling the application, these representatives will guide applicants through the application process and provide expert guidance and assist applicants in preparing the application forms and will also be responsible for the submission of documents to the Citizenship by Investment Unit in Antigua and Barbuda, Representatives will also engage in local authorized agents inside Antigua and Barbuda for the purposes of facilitating the applications and submitting the required documentation.
Upon submission of documents to the Citizenship by Investment Unit, applicants will be required to pay 10% of the government processing fees to the Unit, in this stage the Unit will conduct the due diligence process on applications and verify the received documentation, the Unit will then submit the applications for further due diligence to be conducted by third parties that are specialized in due diligence procedures to vet the applicants and ensure that there are well reputed and has no previous criminal history.
The Third Stage:
After receiving the due diligence letter from the external parties, the Citizenship by Investment Unit will provide the applicants with the letter of approval and will ask them to proceed with the payment of the government fees balance and their investment amounts within 30 days of receiving the letter.
The Fourth Stage:
After providing proof that they have transferred the government fees balance as well as the investment amounts, applicants will receive a certificate of registration of citizenship from the Citizenship by Investment Unit which indicates that they are now officially citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, this registration certificate will be further used to apply for the passport (which will be valid for 5 years) of Antigua and Barbuda by the authorized representatives through the passport office in Antigua and Barbuda, applicants then will be required to take the oath or affirmation of allegiance and spend at least five days in the country in the first 5 years of having the citizenship.
It is important to know that Antigua and Barbuda restricts nationals of certain countries from applying under this program.
